Letter from CEO/Founder
Greetings,
I am Dr. Will Carter, III, M.D., MS, MPH (candidate) — founder and chief executive officer of Carter’s Healthcare Consulting Group (CHCG), LLC.
My entire work career has been dedicated to quality medical care and to mitigating the inconveniences of healthcare inequities. Specifically, those in rural, minority and marginalized communities. Morbidity and mortality rates of minorities have remained amongst the highest in the nation. These data are responsible for much of the inspiration behind the CHCG. As a healthcare consultant, clinician, and clinical medicine services’ coordinator in an area where unequivocal health disparities exist at disproportionate rates, I am tasked each day with the associated challenges of caring for and coordinating care for those in, what could be considered, healthcare deserts.
As a native of rural Mississippi, I am no stranger to health disparities. Further, I fully understand that many of these disparities are a direct correlation to the historical racism in our country. Yet, I hold firm to my hope and remain considerably enthusiastic about the future of healthcare. It is my belief that through health literacy, trust restoration in the healthcare system, and equipping health systems as well as healthcare professionals with culturally aware medical training and evidence-based data, the quality of healthcare would drastically improve and simultaneously morbidity and mortality rates would decrease.
In closing, I take great pride in this very important work that I have dedicated my career and company to. I stand ready to assist you and your team so, together, we can advance health disparities through innovative research projects, health education (and beyond), and improving overall healthcare quality.
